Using Blinkstick as Ambilight for larger TVs

I’m looking to use the BlinkStick as an aftermarket Ambilight solution for a 55" TV. I see using the Ikea DIODER looks like a workable solution, but the lights are only 10" long. A) Is this a viable solution? B) I’m unclear if the BlinkStick will work as a standalone for the TV, or does it need to be plugged into to a computer?

BlinkStick needs a PC based computer to run ambilight. It can’t run as a standalone from the TV.
