Drive activity?

I’ve noticed a trend of USB drives getting rid of their LED activity indicators, which sucks for me since I need it for my server.
I googled around and found this, and have some questions:

Can I use this to show individual drive activity, without putting very much stress on my system?

Can I use it to show network activity?

Out of the box it does not seem to be possible to show drive or network acitivity.
But with a small coding experience you can do what ever you want with this device, using python, C#, nodejs and more.
