BlinkStick Pro Ambilight LED Selection

Hello! I want to use BlinkStick Pro for Ambilight on my 24" monitor. I need ~1,8m to do a full loop on the back side. I want to buy these leds: http://www.amazon.de/WS2812-Stripe-integrierten-Controller-schwarz/dp/B00S1AMV3U/ and connect them to the BlinkStick Pro.

Is this feasible or do I need other leds?

Are those a better alternative: http://www.amazon.de/Nicht-wasserdichter-Streifen-60LEDs-Schutzklasse/dp/B00HZKSP9G/

I am looking forward to your reply

Hey Rico,

welcome to the BlinkStick forums.

The addressable LED strip of your first link should work with BlinkStick. But if you gonna use all the LEDs in full brightness, you need an additional power supply. A few more information about that here:

The second LED strip seems not to be addressable. So it is a completly different device. In my opinion you need to โ€œhackโ€ the controller of this strip or you use the LED adapter:

I hope it helps. A search in the forum could also lead to a few strips BlinkStick users already have tried.

okay thank you p0ke for your fast reply

So I go for the first led strip. Is it easier to use a blinkstick pro or blinkstick flex board? Both are about 9.49, and I donโ€™t really see the difference. However the blinkstick pro looks more complex

I will have a look whether the brightness is bright enough or not, maybe it is sufficient even without an external power supply.
