Ambilight issues

Must be missing something simple.
Have blinkstick Pro with LED adapter board.
Setup the Blinkstick application, if i test my blinkstick it changes colour appropriately to the colour selected.
I then click on New > Ambilight > General and use the following settings:
Enabled (yes)
Event Name (test)
Device (LED Driver)
Colour (defaut white)
Blink Speed (normal)
Priority (normal)
Number of blinks (default 1)
Blink Type (default Blink)

Thats all the settings there are.
All my LED strip does if go from off to white every second or so.
I have tried each of the settings but cannot get this to work.
HELP ! where am i going wrong?

Your settings seems to be correct. Did you try playing a Youtube video full screen? The normal desktop averages to white color. You can also open Paint application, make a large image and fill it with single color, something like red. The LED strip should light up with red color.
