Blinkstick Square: Unable to enumerate USB device

Hey guys,
I recently ordered four Blinkstick Squares and wanted to connect them to my Debian server. The kernel log then says …

<snip>
kernel: [3149150.051636] usb 1-1.6: new low-speed USB device number 8 using ehci_hcd
kernel: [3149150.458717] usb 1-1.6: device not accepting address 8, error -32
kernel: [3149150.530597] usb 1-1.6: new low-speed USB device number 9 using ehci_hcd
kernel: [3149150.937680] usb 1-1.6: device not accepting address 9, error -32
kernel: [3149150.937925] hub 1-1:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 6
<snip>

and so on. It only happens with Squares, not with Nanos. And the same Squares work perfectly with Ubuntu or Windows. What’s wrong here?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Simon

I can´t help directly but please take a look at this thread, maybe there are useful informations for your case.

Hi!

I’m getting the same errors on the recently purchased Blinsticks Strip Mini, and it’s the same on several different computers and usb cables. This is how it looks:

[   42.858718] usb 1-2: new low-speed USB device number 5 using xhci_hcd
[   42.990806] usb 1-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71

[ 44.919415] usb 1-2: Device not responding to setup address.
[ 45.127441] usb 1-2: Device not responding to setup address.
[   45.334695] usb 1-2: device not accepting address 8, error -71
[ 45.334860] usb usb1-port2: unable to enumerate USB device

Is this a firmware problem? Or is something broken on the strips that I purchased?

Szymon

…is blinkstick selling defectuous hardware? I have usbhid driver running and other HID devices are recognized. I tried 5 cables, 3 computers with 3 different operating systems, 2 blinksticks and I get this error every time! (on windows it only shows as “device not recognized”).

What the hell? Did I just waste my euros on non-working hardware?

Szymon
